About
Cody James is a commercial and editorial photographer working in Los Angeles and New York, specializing in lifestyle, portrait, interior, and product photography. His work blends natural light with thoughtful composition to create commercial imagery that feels warm and lived-in rather than overly produced.
Cody has worked with brands like Amazon, Sonos, and BMW, as well as emerging brands building their visual identities from the ground up. His editorial photography appears in The New York Times, Monocle, and Bon Appétit, among others.
"My artistic approach can best be described as visual storytelling, crafted with distinctive lighting techniques and engaging subjects, married together in a setting that complements the narrative-based imagery. I love stepping into my subject’s world and document their surroundings."
Beyond photography, Cody spends time outdoors camping, fishing, and exploring the natural world. He's also developed an interest in carpentry over the last few years, which has become both a hands-on creative outlet and a source of inspiration for his photographic work.
