I photographed editorial story for UNDO Ordinary magazine's Age Issue, a wellness publication that explores the intersection of sports, health, and community. This editorial photography assignment gave me the opportunity to document the relationship between Shane Won Murphy and his grandfather, Gene. With Laguna Beach, California as the backdrop for this lifestyle portrait story, it was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with these two capturing their shared interests that bridge across generations.

The Age Issue specifically explores intergenerational connectivity, to examine how we can learn from our growing pains and the wisdom that comes with age. What made this shoot meaningful was witnessing the genuine connection between Shane and Gene. Their conversations flowed naturally as we moved through different locations along the coast, and I focused on capturing those unguarded moments where you could see the mutual respect and understanding they share. The afternoon light beaming as the sun was setting over the Pacific added warmth to the story, reinforcing the theme of connection across generations that the Age Issue celebrates. Documenting these inter-generational relationships is some of my favorite subjects to photograph. There is a richness there that you don't come across every day.
